In 2001, my Father came to my home studio. We told him that we had a song we KNEW would fit him perfectly. Without hesitation, he jumped in his car and made the trip from Laurinburg to Fayetteville. When he got there, I played it for him. My wife had already pre-recorded the chorus so he would have an idea of the direction of the song. He immediately did that classic Pee Wee Clark rock when he heard it. That let me know he was feeling the song. So he asked for a piece of paper and started filling in all the gaps my wife left with ZERO effort. We finished the demo that day and He Will Do Just What He Said became one of his favorites.

Fast forward to 2016 after I had been on the road with The Mighty Clouds of Joy for some years, we were ready to finally get this song done. I had the exact pieces that I wanted for it. I was satisfied that my studio could finally do my Father justice. We were ready! He came to record the lead vocals again. This would be the last time he worked on the song with me.

What you are about to hear is my dad at his best. The man I admired more than anything or anyone. I can't help but think the second verse he wrote is speaking directly to us right now: "Every day won't be sunshine. Nobody said it would be easy." Losing our Mom on March 6th, 2021, and then him, our Dad, five days later has NOT been easy, to say the least, but this song reminds us to "Just hold on and keep on believing. Cause God will do just what He said."

This is dedicated to the two of you, Mom and Dad- James Walter Clark and Geraldine Campbell Clark.

Rest In Love together.
